Medicine cabinet

This drawing shows what we have to work with, a small master bathroom, but by no means the smallest. The floor plan of this bathroom remodel project will not change much, but it is a major remodeling project. The tub/shower combo will be replaced with a tiled shower stall, bench seat, multiple body sprays, and 3/8 inch thick glass door. The shower tile will extend to complete the flooring, custom vanity cabinet, recessed medicine cabinet just to name the big changes.

In this example, we’re lucky enough to have a little bit of space to work with, and the shower stall will be brought out by about 6 inches. Lucky enough though, we’ve all seen master bathrooms smaller than this. In fact, since this is an early 60s track home, there are neighbors with the same floor plan. By visiting open houses in the neighborhood, we’ve come to realize that the original floor plan of this master bathroom consisted of a single shower stall (instead of a tub/shower combo) with a small linen closet taking up half the space of our tub/shower combo.
